Which ones would you go for? Western occultism or Eastern? Or maybe even both?
If it's both, how would you mix it up to work? _________________ mwahahahah! MWHAHAHAHHAHAH!!! MWHAHAHAAA-ackk!!!

Magic is everywhere. Also, there are more systems than just Western & Eastern, almost every culture that has a mythology has an in for occult magick. Although, I am definitely drawn in by a lot of the Eastern mysticism, it is certainly intriguing -- a lot of European magick is a lot more accessible.
Mixing sounds creepier than it's good for. A lot of traditions work out of their disciplines and understanding what's going on, either through story or psycology, a mixture might just render something, well, spiritually unpotable. |

I suppose geography is relative to accesibility as well since I'm more comfortable with the occult that I grew up with although I sincerely have never seen it done and only heard in horror stories.
And it is true that magic is everywhere. That's a bit of the magic I grew up with. Power of will and a symbol to focus it on. Bad or good, watch where you're going with it!

It's a mongrel of a thing really (in a good and interesting sense).
I originate from a South East Asian country that had far too many ships come through centuries past so many different religions were incoporated with the local ones.
It works out something along the lines of Chinese Buddhist values + superstition (more like respect really) + local shamanic that has been altered by bits of Islam.....
Heee, works out fine for I too, am mongrel!
