Today I was doing my usual rounds of hunting down Mill Avenue related blog posts, when I came across this article, Practicing Pagans find freedom, variety in faith, posted earlier this month at ASU Web Devil:

They don't sit around casting spells, they aren't all "witches" and they don't worship the devil -they don't even believe in one. They're Pagans, and they're all around ASU.

Paganism is the country's 10th largest religion, according to a 2005 Adherents.com survey that the U.S. Census cites for religious information, with about 1 million Pagans living in the United States.

I am sure that people understand that a lot of Vexations takes a lot from American Pagan culture, and borrows a great deal more from stereotypes, religious attitudes towards Christianity and Paganism, the beliefs of various cultures, and a great deal of occult esoterica. While I—as a Pagan main character, who happens to be a magick wielding sorceress—can see how this may also lead to helping push those stereotypes, I hope that most people are intelligent enough to read into the fiction and try to study the concepts and cultures highlighted here.
