What kind of car is the taxi? I keep picturing a '64 corvair (four door), but I have a feeling that's not it. Mostly because I'm not sure if they were ever used for taxis. THey'd make cute ones, though.

An excellent question. I am amazed and flattered this is the first one to pass my darkened threshold.
The current cabby that I have, and she's all mine, is a 1991 LTD Crown Victoria (example here). I bought her at a police auction. She had a horrible smash-up previous to my acquiring her and it has taken a great deal of muster, spit, blood, and no few incantations to keep her together all these years.
She and I have been through a lot together. The mechanic back at the Fairlight garage and I have an understanding that no major work goes on her unless he has my say-so.
She was a police interceptor before I got my hands on her. Though, I cannot say that the old girl is much more than worse for wear these days, I think in spite of her intermittent engine fits and minor breakage, she's probably in better hands with me than with the cops who crashed her.
The Fairlight Taxi Co. emblems is an ugly green motif with checkerboard and a hideous looking lighthouse. Fortunately for me, I can get away with the checkers and the name. No lighthouse for me, thank you.
Her name is Agatha, by the way. Yes, I used to be a murder mystery buff.

It looks like things have changed slightly for me. Nobody has seen it yet, but my cab has a lovely new paint job!
It's done up as a white thing with black-and-white taxi checkers, the white is really a lot more like a silver, but it's altogether more goth than anything.
Yes, this is a little bit of a retcon, but seeing as how the taxi never really gets described, and hasn't had colours before -- it's not that big of a deal.
